research opportunities for students

CERIN89 collaborates with carefully selected national and international students who join the institute for defined research periods. The institute welcomes students with a strong interest in advancing the science of controlled environment agriculture.

Participants typically come from disciplines such as plant sciences, crop physiology, environmental control engineering, data science, applied mathematics, physics, and related fields. What connects them is a shared curiosity about plant performance and a willingness to approach biological questions through quantitative methods.

Student research projects are aligned with CERIN89’s research roadmap and aim to deepen the understanding of plant growth under fully controlled conditions. Projects are expected to contribute to measurable scientific progress and ideally result in new insights and peer-reviewed publications that advance the field of controlled environment agriculture.

Practical Conditions
CERIN89 does not provide financial compensation. Students must therefore be able to cover their own travel and living expenses during their stay in Eindhoven.

In return, CERIN89 provides access to its research infrastructure, including research cabinets (RC8901), laboratory facilities, and the Plant Balance Model, together with scientific supervision.

Applicants are expected to demonstrate intellectual curiosity, independence, and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary research environment.
